Appreciation in Rupee against Dollar: What it means for the share market

Rupee has been appreciating from a long time now and has reached to 17 months high and touched to 65.36 which was on Oct 30, 2015.

This is 3% appreciation in the rate which is great as this is the third fastest growing currency in Asia after Korean Won and Japanese Yen which appreciated 7% and 5% respectively in the same period.

Coming to the understanding the effects of this appreciation on share market, well, any business that is related to export is going to get hurt while import businesses are going to cheer.

Example of export businesses include IT, Pharma, Reality, Tourism while Power and Metal sectors are amongst imports.

Overall, When we are looking towards the companies and picking them, we are going to think about this factor as well because it is going t o affect company’s performance for sure.
